Rediscovering a Two-Year-Old Plum<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two years ago, I made plum syrup using plums harvested near my home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The syrup was enjoyed over time, while the fruit itself remained quietly stored in the refrigerator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For many people, its purpose might already have been completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recently, however, I have been spending more time exploring the hidden value within old things, forgotten objects, and overlooked experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of that journey, my attention returned to these plums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking at the fruit after two years, a simple question emerged:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCould there still be another possibility hidden inside?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That small question became the beginning of a new experiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While thinking about the sweet honey-pickled plums of Wakayama, I began considering how these preserved plums might be transformed into something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than allowing them to remain as a completed process of the past, I wondered whether they could once again become a source of nourishment, energy, comfort, and recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, the plums are being gently transformed with salt and honey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final result is still unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps they will become something similar to sweet honey plums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps they will pair well with rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps they will be better suited for yogurt, warm drinks, or quiet moments of rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this stage, there is no conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What exists is simply curiosity, observation, and the willingness to look again at something that has been present all along.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Discovery does not always come from finding something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes discovery begins when we return our attention to something we thought had already completed its journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These plums have been resting quietly for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, they begin a new cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
