Purpose
This document defines the trademark philosophy and brand protection strategy of the Bunshin ecosystem.
Bunshin is not being developed as a conventional software product alone.
Bunshin is an evolving ecosystem that includes Bunshin OS, Bunshin Framework, Human-People Experience research, Public Records, Archives, Operating Models, Constitutions, and future systems that may emerge from them.
As the ecosystem grows, the protection of names, identities, origins, and authenticity becomes increasingly important.
The purpose of this strategy is not to restrict the free exchange of knowledge, research, or learning.
Its purpose is to preserve authenticity, continuity, attribution, provenance, and trust within the Bunshin ecosystem.
Core Principle
Bunshin supports the open sharing of ideas, research, learning, and Human-People Experience knowledge.
The purpose of trademark protection is not to monopolize ideas or restrict research.
The purpose of trademark protection is to distinguish official Bunshin initiatives from unrelated, unofficial, or misleading uses.
Ideas may be shared.
Research may be discussed.
Concepts may inspire others.
However, Bunshin identities should remain clearly recognizable and attributable to their origins.
Respect for Provenance and Context
Bunshin places great importance on respecting the origins, backgrounds, and contexts of Human-People Experiences.
Likewise, Bunshin itself values the accurate understanding of its own origins, research history, public records, and conceptual foundations.
Trademark protection is therefore not merely the protection of names.
It is a mechanism for preserving provenance, context, authenticity, and trust.
Relationship to Public Records
Public Records and Trademarks serve different purposes.
Public Records establish historical evidence of authorship, origin, development, and publication.
Trademarks protect names, identities, and official representation.
Public Records protect historical provenance.
Trademarks protect identity and trust.
Both are essential and complementary components of the Bunshin intellectual property strategy.
Protection Philosophy
Bunshin does not seek to enclose or monopolize knowledge and experiences.
At the same time, it is important that Bunshin names and identities are not used in ways that disconnect them from their original context, purpose, and meaning.
Therefore, protection is focused on names, identities, provenance, and trust rather than on restricting knowledge itself.
